A Thousand Years
of Fire
From the dragon-kiln flames of Zhejiang to the private galleries of Geneva, the story of Chinese celadon is the story of civilization itself.
“We do not sell objects. We facilitate the transfer of inheritance between generations of stewards.”— Founding Charter, Celadon Archive
A Continuum
Through Dynasties
Tang Dynasty · 618–907 CE
The Imperial Beginning
The earliest Yue ware kilns of Zhejiang produced the first true celadon glazes, earning praise from the Tang poet Lu Yu as "ice-like jade, snow-like purity." These vessels graced the tables of emperors who understood that beauty could be a form of governance.
Northern Song Dynasty · 960–1127 CE
The Apex of Perfection
The Ru kiln operated for no more than twenty years, yet its output defines the absolute summit of ceramic artistry. Emperor Huizong himself dictated the specifications: a glaze resembling "the sky after rain." Fewer than seventy complete examples survive worldwide.
Southern Song Dynasty · 1127–1279 CE
The Southern Migration
As the capital fled southward to Lin'an, so too did the imperial kiln masters. In Longquan, they discovered clay of surpassing fineness and waters of crystalline clarity. The result was the fabled Meiping vase — a form that has haunted collectors' dreams for eight centuries.
Present Day
The Living Tradition
Today, Celadon Archive serves as custodian rather than merchant. We do not manufacture; we authenticate, preserve, and place each piece with those who will honor it as the emperors once did. Our network of kiln archaeologists, materials scientists, and art historians spans four continents.
Our Covenant
The Four Pillars
Forensic Authentication
Each acquisition undergoes thermoluminescence testing, microscopic glaze analysis, and comparative study against documented museum specimens.
Imperial Provenance
We trace every vessel's journey through dynastic collections, scholarly publications, and auction house records spanning centuries.
Discreet Acquisition
For collectors who value privacy above all, we facilitate transactions through legal frameworks in Switzerland, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
Perpetual Stewardship
Even after acquisition, our curatorial team remains available for conservation advice, exhibition loans, and resale facilitation.
